THE RULES

The rules of the ANNAs

  • Qualifying advertising must run in at least one of the NMA's stakeholder publications in the judging year – 1st November 2010 to 31st October 2011
  • All award-winning ads and campaigns must be paid-for advertising. Charity advertising is not eligible
  • Ads must adhere to the British Code of Advertising, Sales Promotion and Direct Marketing. Any advertising that is subject to an upheld complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority is not eligible to win an award
  • The money prizes are awarded only to the individual or individuals named as the originator(s) of the winning ad or campaign by the relevant agency when it is nominated or entered for the awards
  • Only agency employees are eligible for money prizes. Employees of advertisers and of the NMA's stakeholder newspapers are not eligible
  • The prize money for the Campaign of the Year, Copywriting Award and Art Direction Award is divided equally between the members of the creative team. For the Topicality, Best Use of Newspapers and Digital Awards, half of the prize money goes to each agency team. Each team's winnings are divided equally between/among its members
  • Any tax or other legal charges becoming due as a result of the prize are to be borne by the winner(s) of the prizes
  • Creative judges may not select advertising from their own agencies as money prize winners, though they may nominate work from their own agencies
  • The judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into concerning the published results
  • By accepting a nomination for the ANNAs, agencies agree that the NMA can feature the ad or campaign in the Newspaper Marketing Agency's award publications, including the ANNAs Annual, the ANNAs website and the NMA website, as well as any press and PR materials produced for the ANNAs and/or the NMA
  • The results are announced at the annual Awards for National Newspaper Advertising event in January and are then posted on the ANNAs website
  • Ads and campaigns may be considered for more than one award, but can win no more than one money prize
