THE AWARDS FOR NATIONAL NEWPAPER ADVERTISING

At the Newspaper Marketing Agency we believe in creative excellence. That's why, in December 2004, we launched the Awards for National Newspaper Advertising - the ANNAs. Our aims were to:

  • shine a spotlight on the best newspaper ads
  • inspire agencies and advertisers to make the most of the opportunities presented by national newspapers

There are six awards -

Winner of Winners. The ultimate accolade from the ANNAs, this prize reflects the judges' choice for the national newspaper ad of the year. The team behind the ad share £25,000.

Art Direction Award. The newspaper ad that offers the finest feast for the eyes. The winning team receives £5,000.

Copywriting Award. Good copy can elevate an ad to greatness. The winning team receives £5,000.

Topicality Award. The ad that makes the best use of the topicality of national newspapers. A £10,000 prize divided between the creative and media teams.

Creative Media Partnership Award. For great creative enhanced by inspired media planning and buying. A £10,000 prize divided between the creative and media teams.

Online Award. This unique award focuses on ads that make the best use of newspaper websites. Ads and campaigns featuring on digital newspapers throughout the year are considered, with the winning creative and media teams sharing £10,000.

Our awards are judged by creative directors from top ad agencies and senior figures from media agencies. There are no entry fees or complicated entry requirements - we're simply looking for the best ads that appeared in national newspapers between last November and this October (inclusive).

The awards are presented at our gala event in January. All the winning and shortlisted ads appear in the ANNAs' Annual, a prestigious, large-format, coffee-table book, which both celebrates and inspires creativity in newspaper advertising.
